THE RENOVATION AND DECORATION of modern loft apartment pied-a-terre in Midtown, Manhattan.  This apartment was conceived as a contemporary New York retreat, contrasting with the very traditional style of the family’s main home, yet with a vibrant, colorful palate and welcoming, comfortable atmosphere.   In addition to vintage, contemporary and custom furniture designed for the apartment, a painted floor cloth based on an Art Deco carpet along with a document early 20^th century wallpaper in a custom color provide a playful countertop to the otherwise subdued patterns.  The project included architectural details and a luxurious new primary bathroom.
