THE RENOVATION AND DECORATION of a small studio loft apartment in Chelsea. The owners bring a classical collector’s eye to this tall-ceilinged, mini loft, which called for stylish excess rather than disciplined sparseness. The décor and layout was inspired by curiosity cabinets, the Dutch Room at Groussay, and Sir John Soane’s House. Olive linen curtains at the oversize windows continue the color of the walls in order to unify the various interlocking spaces. Bookcases and stairs continue the same olive wall color. An eclectic, personal art collection is hung gallery-style giving the impression of wallcovering. Printed wallpaper covers the folding doors that conceal the kitchen.
